Dr. Sonal Jain Atluri is a Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Neurosurgery at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre. She is among the few Indian paediatric neurosurgeons to have completed formal clinical fellowship training in Paediatric Neurosurgery in the United States.
She has an extensive academic background, having completed her M.B.B.S., M.S., and M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. She was awarded a Gold Medal for her performance in the M.Ch. Neurosurgery examination and was recognised as the Best Neurosurgery Resident in India through the Torrent TYSA Challenge.
Dr. Atluri was also the first Indian woman to receive the prestigious AASAN (American Association of South Asian Neurological Surgeons) Ambassadorship to the USA. Her international training and academic experience have contributed to her expertise in managing complex neurosurgical conditions in children.
She has published an internationally recognised research paper on “Switch Cranioplasty,” an innovative cranioplasty technique that has received appreciation from international paediatric neurosurgery societies. She has also authored 19 research papers covering areas such as paediatric brain tumours, hydrocephalus, craniofacial disorders, and foetal neuroanatomy. Her research contributions have earned her several international awards early in her career.
